Just leaving Bilbao, Spain after a presentation on Leading Without Title and the new model of leadership to business and social leaders in this very special city.
Yesterday, in my free time, I headed over to The Guggenheim Museum, a bastion of staggeringly wonderful modern art (fell in love with the work of David Salle). In one area, I learned about another artist's view that "we own our space" and that human beings have so many choices as to what to do with the space that surrounds them. Powerful insight to me. And to anyone devoted to getting to world-class.
We have choice as to our environment. We have choice as to our associations. And we have choice as to our influences. As I wrote in The Greatness Guide, we do become who we have coffee with. And when we surround ourselves with brilliance, we step up to a whole new level of excellence (and happiness). So own your space.
P.S. Thanks so much to all of you who attended the event last night. I so appreciate your warmth and kindness. Can't wait to return to Spain! We fly to Amsterdam for a speech to the leaders of The Sales and Marketing Association in a few hours
