Recently one of our Camp Alumni wrote me a letter. It was a thank you. She attended YLCC since she was 13 years of age. She first came to us from Montreal as a wide eyed and shy teenager. After her first week of camp she began to blossom. Her energy was building day by day. Towards the end of the second week she stated in a group session, that her FLAG (Fearless Life Altering Goal) was to join the Circus. Many years ago the lure of the Big Top was common. The stories of children wanting to run away are legendary. Although, not so much in the late nineties.
Fast forward to 2003 when Kristina, encouraged by her camp friends and the counselors that she had grown up with, applied for and was accepted at the National Circus School in Montreal. Kristina majored (yes you do actually major in a circus skill) in the German Wheel. She worked hard. Each year returning to camp to get some much needed encouragement from her camp family.
After graduation we all got to celebrate as Kristina rolled out on the field in Torino, Italy at the closing ceremonies of the Winter Olympics. Millions watched as she proudly flew her FLAG that she had created so many years before at YLCC.
By sending your child to camp for a week or two you are giving them the confidence and skills to succeed. To help them find their Personal Legend. The investment that you make today could change the lives of your children forever. Kristina, now in her twenties was just signed to her first performance contract. Way to go… we are all so proud!
