As I write this short message to you I’m in pain.
Not macro, serious, brutal pain.
No. Thank God.
It’s so much more minor.
You see—somehow—last evening, a tiny insect made it into my bedroom. And so it most likely joyfully fed on me for much of a long night.
The result: red blotches of swelling where the uninvited critter worked his craft on my unsuspecting body.
As I soaked in my tub this morning, I thought of what the founder of The Body Shop Anita Roddick once said:
“If you think you’re too small to have an impact, try going to bed with a mosquito.”
The little things really can have larger than expected results.
Actually, in so many ways, I’ve discovered that it’s the little things that are the big things.
...sweating the smallest of details on your master project is what makes pure magic.
...eating in a way that ensures you feel tiny daily victories over your nutritional game stacks into exponentially great health over time.
...writing a handwritten thank you note to the chef of a restaurant that recently delighted you or to a service provider that did something good for you is a minor act with major consequences.
...making the time to reflect on the winning formula that has made your business successful and then building out a plan to accelerate innovation, value creation and public service isn’t the biggest move in the world yet acting on what you’ve come up with just might change the world.
...remember the brain tattoo that I’ve been teaching for much of my professional life: small daily seemingly insignificant improvements when done consistently over time lead to stunning results.
And close all doors before you go to sleep.
P.S: To help you bulletproof your business and fireproof your positivity amid the turbulence, I’ve decided to make my audiobook The Greatness Guide: 101 Lessons for Making What’s Good at Work and in Life Even Better [valued at $28.41] available to you for absolutely zero cost.
